“Ehiz” Okoeguale wins MTV Base VJ Search out of three left

25 Year old computer electronics graduate takes home a 10M Naira contract and a brand new car!

Lagos, 26 January 2013: MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) has announced that Ehizojia “Ehiz” Okoeguale (@SpecialSlim) has triumphed in the MTV Base VJ Search – Nigeria. The 25 year old beat runners up Ada Ogunkeye (@Folustorms) and Kemi Owatemi (@SsmallzZ) to win the grand prize – a job contract with MTV Base worth 10 million Naira, and a brand new car!

The new VJ will also host his own brand-new weekly MTV Base chart show, The Official Naija Top 10 (#BaseNaijaTop10, airing on MTV Base, STV, NTA and AIT from 5 March. 

Happy-go-lucky jobseeker and computer electronics graduate Ehiz Okoeguale,a.k.a. “Special Slim”, is always the life and soul of the party. With a personal mantra that states: “Be the best you can be because at the end of the day you can only answer for yourself”, old-skool funk fan Ehiz numbers Fela Kuti, Born Jamericans and LL Cool J among his favourite artists.  He also loves the colour red because it represents both love and danger!

Ehiz was chosen by a panel of judges comprising Banky W (@BankyW), Toolz (@ToolzO), Funke Akindele ‏(@funkeakindele)and MTV Base’s Tim Horwood (@timohorwood) during the Grand Finale at D’Banj’s new night club One Eleven in Lagos on Friday 25 January. Also participating in the Grand Finale were artists Iyanya, Ice Prince and Burna Boy, whileMTV Base VJ Cynthia C-Von Okpala andMTV’s newest South Africa VJ, Nomuzi Mabena, shared emcee-ing duties at the gig.

Speaking after the Grand Finale, a delighted Ehiz said he was feeling, “Great, happy, speechless, everything in one... I don't know what to say.  All I can say is: I'm not lucky, I'm blessed!”

 The EME artiste, who signed to Tinie Tampah's management company disturbing London in the previous year, is currently working with the British rapper to wrap up his album, which is due for release this 2013. MTV Base reveals top 3 finalists in Nigeria VJ Search

Winner of life-changing gig to take home brand new car and contract worth 10 million Naira!

Lagos, 16 January 2013: MTV Base has revealed the names of the three talented newcomers battling it out for fame and fortune in the MTV Base VJ Search competition. Going head-to-head in the last stage of the channel’s search for a new MTV Base VJ, are 26 year old Ada Ogunkeya (@Folustorms), 25 year old Ehizojia Okoeguale (@SpecialSlim) and 22 year old Kemi Owatemi (@SsmallzZ).

The ultimate victor will win a contract with MTV Base worth 10 million Naira plus a brand new car and other exciting prizes.

Lagos born Ada is an on-air personality at 92.3 Inspiration radio.  A self-confessed “life enthusiast”, Ada’s Twitter page describes her as an “opinionated, impulsive giggle-bot, knowledge fiend, natural hair lover, dancer, and all round dude”.   According to Ada, ‘I feel like I’ve been preparing for this moment my whole life – it feels right!”

Smart and witty Kemi (Dahlia to her friends) loves dancehall music and Rihanna in equal measure.  The personal motto of this young novel-loving Capricorn is “Happiness is Key”, and she describes her personal style as “more denim than silk”.

Justin Timberlake And Destiny's Child Are Back ..

We take a look at the very minor comebacks of two very major stars, in Bigger Than The Sound.

It seems odd to use the word "minor" to describe anything involving Justin Timberlake or Destiny's Child (except for "The Love Guru" ... that was a very minor comedy), and yet, there seems no better adjective available for their respective returns — "Suit & Tie" and "Nuclear" — both of which are decidedly dinky things.
That's not a slight against either song, mind you ... sonically, they're both rather fascinating, each putting unique updates on '90s R&B, all slinky synths and icicle-sharp beats. The HOV-enhanced "Suit & Tie" is probably the more adventurous of the two, cramming together something like three different tunes into five minutes, and it's a delightfully unhinged, all-over-the-place thing. "Nuclear" is a sensuous, glacial tune, one that seems less like a Destiny's song and more like something out of Solange's songbook, yet its restraint is also what makes it stand out.

Nollywood Actors and actresses gathered on Friday in tears and sorrow to pay tributes to the late veteran actor, ENEBELI ELEBUWA, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Lafiaji, Lagos Island.

Dignitaries present included Delta State Commissioner for Youths Development, Mr Ebifa Ijomah, Charles Okafo, Rita Dominc, Monalisa Chinda, Segun Arinz and Richard Mofe Damijo, who is the present State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.
